I am a fourth year undergraduate student in French and German at the University of Victoria. After spending much of my time travelling across Europe and living in France, I discovered my passion for contemporary issues facing Europe today. While most of my interests revolve around migration, I have always been fascinated by the fact that Germany does not allow same-sex marriage, despite countries such as Ireland, a traditionally conservative Catholic nation, having legalized it in 2015. This website aims to give those interested in the topic of LGBTQ rights in Germany a foundation into the issue. I hope that it will serve as a useful source for research purposes and for better understanding the issue of homosexual emancipation in Germany.
